(May 21, 2012) - Dr. Bonita Jacobs, president of North Georgia College & State University, and Richard Oates, associate vice president for academic affairs and interim dean of the Mike Cottrell School of Business, have been named by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as two of the top 100 leaders in education in the greater Atlanta area.

(May 8, 2012) – The consolidation of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College & State University took another step forward today with the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents’ actions on the mission statement and name of the institution formed through the consolidation. The board approved the name University of North Georgia for the new institution created through the consolidation of North Georgia College & State University (North Georgia) and Gainesville State College (GSC).

(May 3, 2012) - Dr. Sherman R. Day, who once served as president of North Georgia College & State University, is stepping out of retirement to serve as the executive director of University Center | GA400, an instructional center being developed jointly by the university and Gainesville State College.
