CULP/CELTT

2012 DOI Orientation
North Georgia has partnered with US Army Cadet Command to send over 900 cadets from schools throughout the United States to a foreign country. As part of this partnership cadets will earn three hours of academic credit from North Georgia. North Georgia will provide instruction for all academic courses as well as liaise between Cadet Command and university partners. The Cultural Understanding and Language Program (CULP) was added as a new division to Cadet Command in 2010. The purpose of the CULP program is designed to offer learning experiences that will allow a cadet to acquire cultural and language skills. These skills will benefit the cadet greatly in the ever-growing global economy. CULP encompasses many types of international opportunities; North Georgia is associated with their CELTT and NGO programs.
Cadet English Language Training Team (CELTT) has been created with the purpose of sending cadets overseas to assist in teaching English to foreign military counterparts. The long-term goal of this program is to establish a service learning program that can be replicated in other regions and nations in each Unified Combatant Command Area of Responsibility. CELTT will prepare future officers for effective service across the spectrum of conflict in various regions of the world.
Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS) is working with Cadet Command and North Georgia to make the cadets' international experiences seamless. Cross-Cultural Solutions is a Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 1997. The organization's vision is that of a world where people value cultures different from their own, are aware of global issues, and are empowered to effect positive change. This vision is shared by all parties in the partnership, which provides us with the necessary tools to expose cadets to varying world views and cultures. While the cadets are abroad they will be immersed in the host countries culture through volunteer placements at local organizations and organized cultural activities.
