Notes on Transfer Credit:
(1) We generally accept transfer credit from regionally-accredited institutions. Our Registrar will evaluate your transcripts for transferable credit after you are accepted for admission. The Registrar will send you an e-mail detailing your transferable credit.
(2) Transfer credit is usually not granted from colleges that are not regionally accredited; however, if the credit evaluation received after you have been accepted shows that no credit was transferred from that college, you may request a course review for credit by that college's course syllabi and professor credentials for each course to be considered to our Registrar's office.
(3) We understand that your decision to transfer may be based on the number of your credits that may or may not transfer to North Georgia. If you wish to know which courses will transfer from your prior college(s) to North Georgia, please go to Course Transfer Equivalencies at North Georgia and select your college from the list. The site can assist you with determining how credit has been transferred to North Georgia in the past for other students. It is a guide only. If you still have questions after reviewing the equivalencies, contact Mrs. Chris Rodriguez-Smith in Cadet Admissions at 706 867-2924 or chrisrs@northgeorgia.edu.(4) If you have not completed 30 semester hours of transferable core curriculum work, you must have completed the approved College Preparatory Curriculum. Therefore, freshman admission criterion are also required. SAT and ACT scores from exams taken after you have graduated high school and attended a college cannot be used for admissions decisions. If you graduated from high school less than five years ago and have taken the equivalent of North Georgia's learning support courses at another college, you must complete 30 semester hours of transferable core curriculum beyond the learning support courses.
(5) If you have a transferable college GPA that is lower than 3.0, you must also have successfully completed the following two transferable courses at a regionally accredited college:
- A course that is the equivalent to North Georgia's ENGL 1101 (English Composition I), with a grade of "C" or better
- A mathematics course that is the equivalent of North Georgia's MATH 1101 (Introduction to Mathematical Models), MATH 1111 (College Algebra), MATH 1113 (Pre-calculus) or MATH 2450 (Calculus I), with a grade of "C" or better
(7) If you want to major in nursing, education, athletic training or exercise science , you need to complete a second online application for that program. Also, you should refer to your desired major for any additional requirements.
(8) If you completed credit at another institution while under academic suspension or dismissal form North Georgia cannot be transferred to North Georgia for credit.Information about logging into Banner is available at the link below: http://www.northgeorgia.edu/Registrar/Default_1col.aspx?id=5125
The Registrar’s office often receives questions from new transfer Cadets about how their credits can be used towards a degree at North Georgia. We have another online tool called Degree Evaluation that’s available to assist with that question. This online tool should be used as a discussion topic for you and your academic advisor. Please know that these evaluations may only include credit from your initial evaluation, not coursework in progress or recently completed. The evaluations are not foolproof and should not replace conversations with your advisor and others in your academic major’s department.
To access the Degree Evaluation area in Banner, follow these links from the Main Menu: Student; Student Records; Degree Evaluation. To view previous evaluations generated by this office, your advisor or by you, follow the Previous Evaluations link. To generate a new evaluation, click ‘What If Analysis’ and follow the directions on the screen. Areas of your program of study will display showing the courses you’ve taken to satisfy that area or requirement.
